MOHMAND:
Students from the Mohmand tribal district staged a massive protest over the lack of internet access in their area, stating that the absence of the facility has deprived them of an education - which is being imparted through online classes after a lockdown was imposed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Protesters gathered in the Ghallanai Bazaar and blocked the Peshawar-Bajaur Highway for an hour.

They held up placards and banners inscribed with their demands and chanted slogans against the government.

The government must stop the step-motherly attitude with residents of the merged tribal districts, they said, adding that schools and university campuses are closed and classes are being conducted online but they cannot join their class fellows in gaining an education because they do not have proper internet connectivity.
