
Rescue 1122 officials said that the roof of NADRA building caved in suddenly when the office was open and people were sitting there for their work.
The woman identified as Nazia Bibi died on the spot, while another eight women including Samina Bibi, Iqra Bibi, Naseem Bibi, Sundus, Sania Bibi and other sustained injuries.
The men included Muhammad Tariq, Akram, Muneer Ahmed, Amir Shah and others along with Office Incharge Rana Intezar were also severely injured.
The rescue teams rushed to the NADRA office and started relief operations led by District Emergency Officer (DEO) Dr Ijaz Anjum. Rescue 1122 stated that most of the injured victims included NADRA employees.
The rescuers recovered the body of the woman and the injured from the debris.
MS Tehsil Headquarter’s Dr Nazir Hiraj stated that three injured victims are in a critical condition
and office in charge Intezar is also among them.
Reportedly, one critically injured victim would be shifted to District Headquarters Hospital and the remaining would be shifted to the THQ Mian Channu.
DEO Dr Anjum said that operation has been completed and all the injured have been shifted to hospitals.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi visited the site and reviewed the rescue operation.
DC Sherazi remarked that high-alert has been issued to all hospitals and the administrations have also been directed to provide better treatment facilities to the injured.
Sources revealed that this building was not owned by NADRA, it was rented to them a year ago by a private party due to cheap rent charges. APP
