Covid-19 tally tops 40,000 in Sindh
1,748 fresh cases emerge, 17 more people succumb to the virus

Sindh saw 1,748 fresh coronavirus cases overnight, said Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday, adding that 17 more people had lost their lives to the contagious disease.
With the newly-reported Covid-19 cases, the tally in the province has soared to 41,303.
Moreover, the death toll in Sindh had reached 696, said Shah, adding that 466 coronavirus patients in the province were in critical condition and of them 71 were on ventilators. On the other hand, 759 people had recovered from the infection on Tuesday.
Sharing the details about active Covid-19 cases in the province, Sindh CM said that 20,711 patients were under treatment, of whom 19,201 were in home-isolation, 1,461 were being treated at different hospitals and 41 were quarantined at isolation centres.
Of the total 1,748 new cases, the chief minister said, 1,184 were reported from Karachi alone. He presented the district-wise breakup and stated that 362 cases were reported from East district, 256 from Central district, 223 from South district, 123 from Malir, 113 from West district and 107 from Korangi.
He further said that 101 people were diagnosed with the contagious disease in Sukkur, 48 in Hyderabad, 24 in Ghotki, 22 in Larkana, 18 in Badin, 17 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 13 in Shikarpur, 12 in Khairpur, nine in Kashmore, six each in Sujawal and Umerkot, five in Qambar-Shahdadkot, three in Naushero Feroze and two each in Mirpurkhas, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, and Badin.
"Cases are increasing in Karachi, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Badin, Ghotki, and other cities," said Shah. "The situation is getting worse due to the lack of precautionary measures."
