Sindh CM's appeal comes as the province reports 1,748 new cases – majority of them in Karachi
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday announced 1,748 fresh Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths in the province in the last 24 hours.
As per the CM's statement, “6,995 tests were conducted in last 24 hours. So far 246,517 tests have been conducted in total in which results of 41,303 came as positive. The provincial death toll has risen to 696”.
The chief minister added that 466 patients were in a critical condition, whereas 71 patients were currently on ventilators.
“As of now 20,711 patients are under treatment,” he said adding, that 19,201 were being treated in their homes, whereas 41 were in isolation centres. Another 1,461 patients were said to be undergoing treatment in different hospitals of the province.
Murad further stated that 759 more coronavirus patients had recovered, and had been discharged from medical centres.
Providing a breakdown of the new cases, the CM said that out of the total cases, 1,184 were reported in just Karachi. Out of them, 362 were reported in district East, 256 in Central and 223 in South; 123 cases were reported in Malir; 113 in district West and 107 in Korangi.
As for other provincial districts, 101 cases were reported in Sukkur, 48 in Hyderabad, 24 in Ghotki, 22 in Larkana, 18 in Badin and 17 new cases in Shaheed Benazirabad.
Shikarpur reported 13 new cases, Khairpur 12 and Kashmore nine, whereas six cases each were reported in Sujawal and Umerkot. Five new cases were reported in Qamar and three new cases emerged in Naushahro Feroze.
CM Murad also said that two cases each were reported in Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta and Badin.
“Cases are increasing in Karachi, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Badin, Ghotki and other cities,” the CM said. “The situation is getting worse due to the lack of precautionary measures.”
The provincial minister urged to follow the standard operating procedures and take precautionary measures to limit the spread of the deadly pathogen.
