ISLAMABAD:
A video has emerged where property dealers in Ghauri Town tore down the recently plastered notices from the apex civic authority of the federal capital.

Taking note of the matter, the authority has decided to take action against those involved.

A few days ago, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that it had sealed properties and illegal housing schemes built in Ghauri Town. However, soon after officials of the authority left, local property dealers and owners tore the notices off their doors. A video showing the incident soon went viral online.

CDA Chairman and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration Chief Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed took notice of the incident on Monday and directed the relevant officials to take action. Warning that strict action will be taken against those who had violated CDA by-laws, he said that teams of the authority are currently checking which of the sealed properties on which plastered notices had been torn down.

Once the investigations are complete, the CDA team will identify the accused and prosecute them.

He promised that no leniency will be shown to anyone. Moreover, he said that the property dealers who refused to comply with the government's orders in the video and tore up the notices will be prosecuted separately. Since Ahmed also heads the district administration, he said that teams from the district administration will also work with the CDA team.

No compromise can be made on the rule of law, he said, as he ordered to register cases against all the suspects after completing inquiries.
