Dutch mission ‘open for business’

Most staff working from home, those at embassy follow precautionary measures

The Ambassador of Netherlands Wouter Plomp on Monday said that their diplomatic mission was ‘open for business’ even though most of the staff are working from home and those at the embassy are strictly following all precautionary measures.

In a Twitter message on Monday, Plomp said that economic ties between the two countries are progressing steadily, adding that both the Netherlands and Pakistan enjoy excellent relations.

Last year, he said, they had participated in many trade exhibitions and trade missions.

With the number of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases soaring past 100,000 in the country, Plomp acknowledged that the virus has “hit us hard”.

“We at the embassy are strictly observing all standard operating procedures (SOPs) which mean we will continue working from home,” he said, insisting, “While working from home we are still open for business.”

He added that they had a strong economic team was at the embassy which was ready to assist all those seeking any information regarding businesses in the Netherlands. “We continue meeting Pakistani companies online to listen to their concerns,” he added.
