Anwar Maqsood is finally on Twitter
The writer said he had to do this after accounts impersonating him tweeted against political parties using his name
Renowned writer Anwar Maqsood is finally on Twitter and the personality has since then uploaded two videos to establish that this new handle was his actual and only account.
In the first video he addressed 'Anwar Maqsood,' the person impersonating him, to send out the message that he was finally on Twitter.
He coupled his video with the tweet requesting his followers to report all other fake accounts. "This is my official account. I request you to report all other accounts that are impersonating me. Thank you," he said.
To his surprise, however, the video then appeared on all of his fake accounts as well, making it unclear to distinguish which one was the real Anwar Maqsood.
However, the legendary comedian did not give up and cleared out the confusion by uploading another video specifying the username of his personal account so the whole mystery could be debunked.
"Twitter per mera account hai AnwarMaqsood01 ke naam se, baaki jo accounts hain wo saray fake hain. Tou agar ap mujhse mohabbat kartay hain, unko report karen. (I'm on Twitter with the username AnwarMaqsood01. The remaining accounts with my name are fake. So if you love me, please report those accounts)," he said.
In an earlier video posted by a user on social media, Maqsood had clarified that he does not run any social media handles since the fake accounts in his name were posting statements against PTI on a regular basis.
He had said, "My name is Anwar Maqsood and many people are releasing political statements using my name on Twitter, even today someone tweeted about Imran Khan. However, I neither have a laptop, nor a Facebook account and I have this old phone that I carry everywhere."
"I don't even know how to type a message properly, so I would like to apologise to all the bigwigs whose sentiments are being hurt by these tweets, I have nothing to do with them," he concluded.
