ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended two officers for sending an incorrect report to the Cabinet Division regarding allotment of residential plots to the journalists. The report was then also forwarded to the National Assembly Secretariat.

An inquiry, headed by the Member Estate CDA, has also been ordered to fix the responsibility for submitting incorrect report in response to a reference received from the National Assembly Secretariat seeking information regarding allotment of plots to journalists in Sector I-15.

CDA Spokesperson Ramzan Sajid said that in 2005, a request was received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for allotment of residential plots to the journalists based in Islamabad. The case was processed and after balloting the allotment was reserved for these journalists.

An official on condition of anonymity added that these officials have been suspended to please the Prime Minister (PM). The discussion about allotment of plots to the journalists has been going on for quite some time now, he said.

“However these officials have been made scapegoats and suspended to appease the PM,” he added.

Moreover, the official also told that the CDA’s record is the official one and no forgery has been done to it. “These people were actually given plots,” he said.
