The All Parties Conference (APC) organised by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Saturday stressed upon forging national unity in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.

The all parties summit also observed that amending the 18th Amendment and making National Finance Commission award controversial was a conspiracy against the people of the country.

Briefing the media after the APC in Peshawar, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman noted that the matter of NFC was pending in the court and that a change in the 18th Amendment was unacceptable.

“Amendments to the 18th Amendment and NFC through presidential decree are not acceptable. The financial adviser should be removed from the NFC commission,” he said.

“After the merger of the tribal districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s share in the NFC should be increased,” he added.

Expressing his views on Justice Qazi Faiz Isa's case, Fazl said that the case was based on malice and demanded that it be immediately withdrawn.

He assured that the opposition was standing by the independent judiciary during this time.

Alleging that the provincial government was not serious about the coronavirus pandemic, the JUI-F leader appreciated the steps taken by the Sindh government in the fight against the deadly contagion.

He called for taking steps for the immediate repatriation of overseas Pakistanis and asked for 50% discount on airfare for the passengers.

He insisted that landlords and farmers affected by the swarms of locusts should be given compensation.

Fazl also announced the formation of a committee comprising heads of political parties to liaise with leaders across the country and holding APCs.

He demanded of the government to pay Rs500 billion in terms of electricity profit to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and called for waiving three months’ electricity bills of the people of the province.

Qaumi Watan Party chief Aftab Ahmed Sherpao and provincial chairman Sikandar Sherpao, Pakistan Peoples Party provincial president Humayun Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami's central deputy chief Prof Ibrahim and provincial amir Senator Mushtaq Ahmad, Awami National Party’s provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, JUI-F Central General Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and provincial amir Maulana Attaur Rehman, Opposition leader in the provincial assembly Akram Durrani, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial general secretary Murtaza Javed Abbasi and others attended the meeting.
