Cabinet appoints GHPL MD
Decision made after screening, evaluation of suitable professionals
ISLAMABAD:
The cabinet on Tuesday approved the appointment of Masood Nabi as managing director of Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL).
GHPL is a 100% government-owned company established to look after the state’s interest in the upstream petroleum joint ventures.
GHPL is registered under the Companies Act 2017 and mandated to monitor activities of joint ventures on behalf of the government of Pakistan. The company is also functioning as a non-operating partner with local and foreign oil and gas exploration and production companies. The government has finally streamlined the process for identifying and appointing professionals with local and foreign experience to perform leadership roles in commercial entities.
The appointment was made after a competitive process involving the screening and evaluation of suitable professionals by the full GHPL board and final shortlisting as per corporate governance regulations.
The cabinet was informed that advertisement for the position of GHPL MD/CEO was published on July 28, 2019. In order to shortlist candidates, the board of directors of GHPL engaged services of a human resources consultant/ head-hunting firm, which received 103 applications against the advertised position.
