Zaira Wasim returns to social media after quoting Quran controversy

Former Bollywood actor deleted her Twitter and Instagram accounts after one of her tweets irked few

Former Bollywood actor Zaira Wasim has returned to social media after a short hiatus when one of her tweets irked a few.

Wasim has deleted her Twitter and Instagram accounts after being heavily trolled for quoting the Quran in light of the locust attacks taking place in Mumbai this week, reported Mid-Day.

“So we sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood: signs openly self- explained. But they were steeped in arrogance – a people given to sin,” she had tweeted.

Soon, Wasim started receiving hateful comments from netizens who interpreted her post as a justification of the attacks. Shortly after being deluged with such comments, the Dangal actor deleted her Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Zaira took to Twitter to answer a user’s question as to why she left social media in the first place. “Why did she deactivate her account?,” it read.

Zaira replied, “Because I’m just a human, like everyone else, who’s allowed to take a break from everything whenever the noise inside my head or around me reaches it’s peak.”
