La La Land star Ryan Gosling is all set to step into supernatural shoes with his latest role!

According to E! News, Gosling is in talks to on the famous character Wolfman in Universal's next film from their monster universe. What'ss more exciting is that this will be his first supernatural character.

It is reported that Gosling was the one to pitch the concept for the movie. His concept spurred and guided the writers to take on the story and create the screenplay.

The screenwriters behind the project are  Orange Is the New Black writers Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo. The project does not have a director attached, yet, and according to multiple reports, Universal is actively considering different options.

The last film featuring the titular monster was 2010's The Wolfman, starring Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Blunt and Hugo Weaving.

While the 2010 spin was a more origin story take on the monster, the new adaptation is believed to take inspiration from Jake Gyllenhaal's Nightcrawler - which means that this will be a more modern take on the villain.

Currently, Gosling is also signed on to star in The Martian which likely means that the Universal project will be set back and won't hit the screens anytime soon. Production on The Martian, a Phil Lord and Christopher Miller film, has not started as yet.
