Teachers plan protest before budget

The officials expressed that they had been suffering financially for the last five years

The teachers’ representative bodies of Punjab have decided to stage protests and strikes before the federal and provincial budgets.

The office-bearers of teachers’ representative bodies including Rana Liaquat, Shafique Bhalwalia and Basharat Iqbal told The Express Tribune that they had already tabled the charter of demand before the government. They added that they had put forward several demands including increment in salaries and allowances.

The officials all called for filling the vacant seats along with regularisation of contractual employees.

Further, the central officials of Clerks Association (CA) including Shehzad Manzoor, Chaduhry Mubashir and Raja Aftab said iterated they too had already put forward the charter of demand. They demanded up-gradation of scales, adding that employees in basic pay scale (BPS) 1 to 5 should be given more incentives.

Aftab also said that the new recruitments should be done on permanent basis.

The officials expressed that they had been suffering financially for the last five years, adding that they would take no lollypop ahead from the government.

CA officials hinted for staging protests if their demands are not met.
