KARACHI:
The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Karachi police and the federal intelligence agency arrested a suspected terrorist of Islamic State (IS) in a joint intelligence-based operation in Karachi, the SIU spokesperson said on Saturday.

According to the spokesperson weapons and other sensitive materials were also recovered from the militant’s hideout. A case had been registered against the suspect, identified as Sikandar, over terrorism and other charges.

Police said that during investigation the militant divulged that he joined the IS in 2019 and carried out extortion activities in Karachi in the past year. He also confessed to shooting and bombing at a clinic in the PIB Colony because the doctor did not pay the extortion money, the spokesperson said.
