RAWALPINDI:
All small and large markets in Rawalpindi remained closed on Friday, the first day of the 'smart lockdown' after Eidul Fitr.
All shopping malls, plazas, jewellers, electronic markets, Bara Bazaar, and commercials markets in Saddar were shut. The Metro Bus also remained shut even though public transport, such as rickshaws, taxis and Suzuki pick-up vans continued to operate. Due to the lockdown, 75 parks across the district apart from other recreational spots remained closed. Roads leading to Murree were also sealed. Officials strictly enforced the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for opening essential stores, including wearing face masks, gloves and the use of hand sanitisers.
