LAHORE:
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Friday that funds have been provided to the health department on a priority basis as protection of public health is essential amid pandemic.

The chief minister said this in a meeting with the Provincial Ministers Dr Yasmeen Rashid and Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed in his office on Friday to discuss anti-coronavirus drive and future strategy. Buzdar stated that around 224,000 persons have been tested for Covid-19 so far in Punjab.

“As many as 6,338 coronavirus patients have recovered in total whereas 927 new cases have been confirmed during the last 24 hours,” he revealed.

Now the number of patients in Punjab is 22,964 and around 5,400 have been tested during the last 24 hours, he added.

He directed the authorities to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlined by the government effectively, emphasising that public cooperation was imperative in this regard. “Patients have been allowed home isolation and the government is actively involved in containing the spread of pandemic,” the chief minister asserted.

The CM said the Punjab government had taken an appropriate decision of closing educational institutions, marriage halls and cinemas in the larger public interest.

Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid briefed the CM about the anti-coronavirus arrangements undertaken by the health department.
