Henry Cavill to return as Superman in upcoming DC film

The actor could end up having a cameo in Matt Reeves' 'The Batman'

It appears that DC won't be rebooting Superman in its cinematic universe like it is doing with Batman. According to a recent report published by Variety, Henry Cavill is set to return as the Man of Steel, in an upcoming DC Comics film.

Back in December, Cavill had talked about his connection with the Superman mantle. “The cape is still in the closet,” he said. “It’s still mine. I’m not going to sit quietly in the dark as all the stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet."

Adding further, Cavill talked about how there is so much more that can be one with the character. "A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see,” he said.

In addition to Zack Snyder’s Superman origin story Man of Steel in 2013, Cavill played the iconic hero in 2016’s Batman v Superman and 2017’s Justice League.

Snyder recently announced the long-rumored “Snyder Cut” of Justice League for HBO Max, though according to Variety,  Cavill wouldn’t be suiting up for the director’s cut, instead, he would have a cameo in one of DC’s upcoming films, including Aquaman 2 and The Batman.
