Two suspected kidnappers flee lockup in Rawalpindi
CPO said that they have formed teams to apprehend the suspects again
RAWALPINDI:
The Rawalpindi city police chief has ordered to detain two station clerks after two suspected kidnappers managed to flee from custody on Tuesday.
Two clerks of the Airport police station were suspended and booked after their alleged involvement in the escape of the suspects charged with kidnapping.
Moreover, the police chief formed teams to arrest the absconding suspects at the earliest.
A police spokesperson said that the suspects had been booked in several cases of kidnapping, including some of a high profile nature, including a female DSP and a local food chain owner.
The spokesperson said that the suspects had been apprehended and were locked up in the Airport police station since they were being investigated there.
However, they mysteriously managed to break out of their cell early on Tuesday morning. After the incident came to light, the CPO, Investigation-SSP and Potohar SP rushed to the Airport police station and questioned the staff. Subsequently, station clerks, Umar and Aqib were arrested and the police teams are now probing their alleged involvement in the escape.
The CPO said that they have formed teams to apprehend the suspects again while the search operation in the area was also underway. He added that there would be strict action against the security personnel over the display of negligence in their duties.
