3,800 policemen called in for Eid security in Rawalpindi

Will secure 873 mosques, 50 imambargahs, 63 Eidgahs

Rawalpindi police, along with other law enforcement agencies, have formulated a foolproof security plan for Eidul-Fitr to ensure security during first Eidul-Fitr in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Leave of police personnel has been cancelled and more than 3,800 police personnel will perform their duties for Eid prayers congregations and to maintain law and order situation as well as corona special duties. More than 400 CCTV cameras will be used for monitoring. SSP operations will supervise security plan.

According to police sources, Punjab government has yet to make a final decision regarding Eid prayers on the occasion of first Eidul-Fitr during the coronavirus  outbreak.

However, police and other law enforcement agencies have completed their homework. If the government only allows Eid prayers to be offered in open fields, large Eidgahs, then the plan will be implemented with slight changes.

Police sources said more than 3,800 police personnel would be deployed for Eid duty at 873 mosques, 50 imambargahs and 63 open fields on the occasion of first Eid during the corona epidemic.

Female police including police elite commandos, dolphin force, bodyguard squad, sharpshooters, traffic police personnel will be deployed. Open fields will be sealed by laying barbed wires before Eid prayers.

There will be only one way for entrance and exit. Police personnel will be deployed on both sides of the entrance. Three walk-through gates will be installed at large Eidgahs  and worshipers will be allowed to enter the Eidgah through these walk-through gates.


Police personnel will also perform their duties to ensure social distancing. The worshippers wiil be allowed to offer prayers as per SOPs devised for coronavirus.

Worshippers will have to stand at a distance in line to offer prayers as per SOPs.

Before the end of Eid prayers, it will be announced through loudspeakers that citizens should avoid the traditional embracing  on the occasion of Eid.

SP of each division will be patrolling with a special squad by end of Eid prayers, the. SDPO will monitor duty by conducting surprise checks within its police stations jurisdiction.

Sources said that tag vehicles equipped with more than 10 mobile CCTV cameras will be used for live monitoring of Eid prayer congregations. More than 400 CCTV cameras have already been installed to monitor overall security of city.

Police personnel stationed in the control room at the CPO office will monitor the CCTV cameras and report any suspicious person or movement to the concerned police station.
