Virus testing labs to stay open during Eid

Staff will work single shift on first day, double shift on second day of Eid

LAHORE:
The Punjab Health Department has decided not to close coronavirus testing laboratories during Eidul Fitr holidays. In a notification issued on Saturday, the testing labs will remain open during said holidays, and staff will perform duties at the labs according to duty roster.

According to the plan, on the first day of Eid, the testing labs staff will work in a single shift while on the second and third days of Eid, the testing laboratory staff will work in a double shift.

It was also decided that in the case of load of work, and the increased testing numbers, the duty roster could be changed and times of shifts could be increased. The purpose was of the shifts was to provide the best facilities to the citizens.


Earlier, coronavirus testing labs’ employees worked day and night and on the first day of Eidul Fitr, the purpose of a single shift was to provide relaxation to the staff due to the efforts made and contributions by the labs’ teams in the fight against the coronavirus disease.

As per details obtained by The Express Tribune, due to the performance of testing labs, the authorities concerned appreciated the staff of Punjab government for their diligent work. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar also met with labs’ staffs and said that their services and hard work in the fight against the virus was commendable.
