Passengers throng Multan railway station
Over 20 trains chug past the city after resumption of service
MULTAN:
Operations at Multan Cantt Railway Station have resumed and 24 trains passed through it on Thursday.
A window for booking of tickets has also been opened in the reservation office due to technical glitches in the online system. Railway officials visited the station to review the arrangements.
After the partial restoration of train operations across the country on Wednesday, crowds could be seen at the station. Passengers were also seen heading to the railway station in the city.
On the directives of Railway Minister Shaikh Rasheed, a window has been opened in the reservation office in Multan under the defined SOPs after a technical fault occurred in the online system. Passengers can book their seats from the window, which will remain open from 8am to 5pm.
Meanwhile, 24 up and down trains passed through station in two days, including Mehr Express that departed from Multan.
Railway Division DS Shoaib Adil also visited the station to review the arrangements. After reviewing the disinfection process, he also monitored whether social distancing was being maintained by passengers waiting for trains.
