RAWALPINDI:
A day after people of the twin cities spent hours caught in traffic snarl-ups in the sweltering heat, the top traffic cop of Rawalpindi has said they have come up with a special plan for the last days of Ramazan to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the city.

To avert traffic jams on city roads, Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) Chief Traffic Officer Syed Ali Akbar said that they are implementing a special plan to regulate traffic in commercial areas of the city.

In this regard, he said that squads of traffic police will be deployed at all the main intersections of the city. Further, traffic police officers have been directed to remain vigilant against suspicious vehicles to curb street crime. Strict action under the law was also ordered against vehicles having tinted glasses or moving in the city without number plates, he added.

A helpline has also been set up at Racecourse Traffic Office through the deployment of a special squad.

The helpline is working around the clock to assist citizens, he added.
