Lahore High Court has ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to make a decision on the matter of online game PUBG within six weeks.
The order comes after a petition was filed in the LHC on Monday to ban the game.
Digital video game spending hits record high under virus lockdown
A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Atir Mahmood presided over the hearing in which the petitioner’s lawyer highlighted negative effects of the video game on children.
The petitioner believes the game is promoting violence in children and called for a ban on the Korean game and its removal from the Play Store.
Online gaming booms as virus lockdowns keep millions at home
The online multiplayer battle royale game is among the most downloaded games of 2020 and was also the top-grossing game worldwide last month.
