KARACHI:
A Special Branch ASI allegedly involved in the facilitation of a sleeper cell of the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) counter terrorism wing on Sunday.

The RAW sleeper cell is allegedly also affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London.

According to the FIA, ASI Musawwir, who was deputed at the Jinnah International Airport surveillance unit, had allegedly assisted RAW agents with clearance at the airport and has also been involved in several targeted killings, as well as other terrorist activities.

The FIA also revealed that Musawwir, who had been appointed to the Special Branch police in 1991, had allegedly visited India in 2008 for the purpose of training and was being funded by RAW official Mehmood Siddiqi.

Another ASI and five other alleged members of RAW have been arrested on similar charges in recent weeks.
