7 suspected gamblers among 19 held

Cash, unlicenced weapons, drugs, liquor and stolen valuables recovered

ISLAMABAD: As many as 19 suspected criminals, including seven gamblers, were apprehended from different parts of the city while cash, gold ornaments, liquor, drugs, gambling tools, stolen valuables and weapons from their possession, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.

The official said that acting on a tip-off, City Superintendent of Police (SP) Omer Khan constituted a special team under the supervision of ASP Hamza Amanullah and including Bhara Kahu SHO Naveed Tahir along with others. They apprehended Saeed Abbasi and recovered stolen gold ornaments and cash from him. A case was registered against him and further investigations are underway.

Moreover, Rural-SP Naeem Iqbal constituted directed DSP Sardar Ghulam Mustafa and SHO Mirza Muhammad Gulfraz along with others to raid a gambling den. During the raid, they arrested seven suspected gamblers identified as Hamad Ali, Mir Zaman, Haris, Shahzeel, Danyal, Muhammad Sulman and Usman. Stake money and other gambling tools were recovered from their possession.

Furthermore, Saddar-SP Sarfraz Virk, ASP Rana Abdul Wahab and Shalimar police station SHO SI Sulman Shah and with others arrested two suspects, identified as Mumraz Malak and Muhammad Nazam, and recovered 1.13 kilogrammes of hashish and a 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from their possession.

Bhara Kahu police arrested Faraz Sattar and recovered 230 grammes of hashish from him. The Karachi Company police arrested Alian Masih and allegedly recovered 20 litres of wine from him.

The Tarnol police arrested a suspected thief, Safeer Muhammad, and recovered stolen valuables from him. Police also arrested Touseef Ahmed and Asif, who were allegedly involved in the illegal sale of diesel.

CIA police arrested Ghulam Muhammad and recovered an unlicenced 30 bore pistol from him.

The Koral police arrested three suspects, identified as Jawad Adil, Asif Rasheed, and Shahzad.
