Osman Khalid Butt, Adnan Malik praise 'Diriliş: Ertuğrul'

The two actors seem to be big fans of the serial!

Diriliş: Ertuğrul is the latest Turkish phenomenon to hit Pakistani TV screens and of course, it's drawn its fair share of naysayers including actors Shaan Shahid and Reema Khan.

The relatively recent crop of Pakistani actors, however, seem to be all for it, as confirmed by Osman Khalid Butt and Adnan Malik's tweets praising the show.

The former took to Twitter to share his views about the serial and by his words, OKB is a fan. "I'm consuming an unholy amount of this show. Is it a GoT fix? The excellent cast & plot? The intrigue, the reverence for customs & traditions? All of the above?" he wrote.

Osman also added in a reply to another user that he watches the series with subtitles and not with the Urdu dubbing.

Echoing his sentiments, Adnan Malik also took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the wildly popular series that is also, of course, streaming on Netflix.

"What's most fascinating about #Ertugrul on PTV is that the average Pakistani gets to see a completely different take on the cultural values of a predominantly Muslim country," he wrote.

His take wasn't just restricted to praising the show; it was also more of an analytical take on how the show can, perhaps, positively impact how we look at progressive Muslims.

"Since Turkey has undoubtedly created one of the most popular shows about Islamic history ever, there’s a fascination with the people who acted in it," wrote Adnan, adding that the subsequent demystification of their imagined 'piety' in real life might just open up indoctrinated minds in Pakistan.

Diriliş: Ertuğrul airs every day at 9:10 pm on PTV and is currently the top trending show in Pakistan on Netflix, where it streams as Resurrection: Ertugrul.
