Man axes newly wedded wife to death

Accused along with his brothers tortured Iqbal Bibi before giving her a deadly blow

A man accompanied by his brothers axed his newly wedded wife to death over a property dispute in Dijkot area on Thursday.

Police arrested the husband and registered a case against the accused and his accomplices. Jamaat Ali, a resident of Chak No 280 RB Jamali Chowk had an asset related dispute with his 50-year-old wife, Iqbal Bibi.

When a heated argument broke out between the couple, Jamaat Ali along with his brothers Shamoon, Waris and Ashraf tortured Iqbal Bibi during the altercation finally hitting her severely with an axe.

The critically injured wife was shifted to the hospital where she succumbed to injuries.

Dijkot police reached the spot on information and shifted the body of the deceased to the morgue.

Later on the body was handed over to the heirs and a case was registered against the perpetrators on the statement of the deceased’s brother Zulfiqar Ali.

Station House Officer (SHO) Dijkot Roy Farooq Ahmed said Jamaat Ali had married Iqbal Bibi three months ago.

Meanwhile, a young man riding a motorcycle was killed in a collision with a truck on Satiana Road.

Sadar Police took the body of the man into custody and handed it over to his heirs after completing legal formalities.
