Weather turned pleasant after rain accompanied by strong wind lashed Lahore and other cities of the province in the early hours of Thursday.
The downpour started around Sehri time in the metropolis, bringing relief to the citizens who were irked by the high mercury levels in the past few days.
However, the ill-conceived power supply network across the provincial capital succumbed to rain in several areas. As many as 80 feeders of the power utility company tripped, causing immense distress to the citizens.
Heavy rains cause flooding in twin cities
The weather report issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Office highlights the presence of a westerly wave over upper and central parts of the country, which is likely to persist for the next 24 to 36 hours.
Resultantly, rain, heavy wind and thunderstorms are expected across Punjab on Friday.
As per record, rain, wind and thunderstorms were witnessed in isolated places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Attock, and various districts of Punjab, including Hafizabad, Lahore, Muzaffargarh, Jhang and Khushab.
The weather remained hot and dry in the rest of the districts of Punjab on Thursday.
Light drizzle was also reported in Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Islamabad, Jhelum, Joharabad, Khanpur, Narowal, Rawalakot, Sahiwal, and Sialkot.
