KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to call a provincial assembly session, it was reported on Wednesday. The session is likely to be held in the upcoming week.

According to sources in the government, the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is also mulling the implementation of strict precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus during the session.  One of the measures under consideration is said to be the possibility of allowing only one-third of the provincial lawmakers to attend the session.

All opposition parties are to be taken into confidence on the matter, the sources revealed, adding that the government had also prepared a set of recommended measures, in light of coronavirus health advisories, to be observed during the session.

Of 166 total MPAs in Sindh, only 55 lawmakers, comprising 52 per cent treasury bench members and 48 per cent opposition members, may be allowed to attend the session, the sources speculated.
