Roads of the garrison city were jammed with vehicles as people came out in large numbers on the first day after the lockdown, imposed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), was relaxed by the Punjab government.
All main thoroughfares, which had remained bereft of traffic for the past 50 days, once again resonated with blaring horns and bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Doctors’ protests cause traffic jam in city
The worst affected were the roads leading to different markets and bazaars including Rawal Road, Saidpur Road, Pirwadhai Road, Saddar Road, Liaquat Road, Raja Bazaar, Jamia Masjid Road, Airport Road, Kachehri Chowk, Jhelum Road, Peshawar Road, Gawalmandi Road, Dhok Syedan Road, Misrial Road, Chohar Chowk, Chakra Road, and High Court Road. Those motorists who sought to get away from the gridlocks down service roads were followed by others, causing snarl-ups on the roads as well.
