Minister hopes new system will help solve people’s problems

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat said on Monday that the local government system introduced in the province is different from all the earlier schemes, which will help in solving problems at the grassroots level as per the aspirations of the people.

Addressing the inaugural function of an online training programme for newly recruited officers of Punjab Local Government Department, he said fulfilling the expectations of the people should be their mission.

New delivery model of e-education termed necessary

Punjab Local Government Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi gave a detailed briefing to on departmental matters, while Special Secretary Babar Aman Babar highlighted the purpose of the online training programme.

The minister said the new local government system is an important part of the PTI government's manifesto, which will be a prelude to real change in the province. He expressed hope that the officers would serve the people on merit as they had been recruited on the basis of the same principle.

PU organises online training for dietary guidelines

The local government secretary said the municipal officers recruited in various cadres, including finance, infrastructure, services, regulation and engineering, had been included in the training to improve their professional skills. He said that the department had recruited the 402 officers in the local governments through the Punjab Public Service Commission.
