KARACHI: An injured newborn girl was found lying on the ground by a building in Mominabad on Friday. She later passed away.

According to Mominabad SHO Chaudhry Mushtaq, a case has been registered on behalf of Azam Khan, who found the infant.

Khan maintained in his statement that the infant had a wound on her forehead and it seemed as if she had been thrown from the building. He further stated that he had called the police after finding the child and took her to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Mushtaq added that Khan suspects a resident named Imran to be involved in the incident. Imran and his daughter were included in the investigation, while the woman has been examined and DNA samples taken from her, he added. The infant's DNA samples have also been taken. If the samples match, murder charges would be added to the case, he said, though both the suspects have been released on surety.
