QUETTA: Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan on Tuesday visited the Covid-19 Command and Operation Centre (COC) to review its functionalization as Balochistan faces a spike in active cases.

COC In-charge Imran Gichki briefed the CM regarding the functions of the Centre, adding that they have been taking constant assistance from health experts and academia.

“Following the given directions, the COC has been analysing the impact of Covid-19 on various sectors in Balochistan whereas the climbing graph of positive cases is being reviewed by health experts in the Centre,” Gichki told Jam Kamal, adding that additional command centers are being established at divisional level.

The provincial chief executive directed health authorities to keep the COC functional even after the end of Covid-19 so that the available data would assist the government to take future decisions with a strong mechanism in place.

“Unfortunately, previous regimes didn’t provide opportunities to departments for utilizing their expertise. Political leaderships were responsible to take services of experts in all provincial fields,” the CM said, pledging to expand the COC network in Balochistan.
