Pakistani artistes set to perform for virtual Covid-19 fundraiser

The Sufi programme will feature Ali Zafar, Ali Sethi, Haroon Rashid among others

Following the series of online concerts that artistes have executed from home, a virtual sufi programme meant to raise funds for Covid-19 victims is set to go live on Sunday, May 10, 2020.

According to the fundraising website and owing to the ongoing Ramazan festivities, the initiative is called the Hamd-O-Naat and Sufi programme.

It promises to feature performances of several popular Pakistani artistes with the headlining being Ali Zafar, Rafaqat Ali Khan, Ali Sethi, Haroon Rashid and Ustad Shaftqat Amanat Ali.

Other performances will feature Khurram Iqbal, Junaid Younus and Ali Sher. Furthermore, the portal suggests that these artistes would be donating their time to help raise funds and the video link of the performances will be shared after a subscription of $10 per family.

The description on the website relayed, "Covid-19 has hit the underprivileged more than any of us. As we all practice social distancing let us not distance ourselves from the most vulnerable whose survival depends on our generosity."

"As a response to the war against coronavirus, VIGA is providing relief to the most vulnerable, particularly old persons, daily wager laborers, and street vendors. Initially, we aim to support 100,000 families through several of our programs."

VIGA is a project of Akhuwat which is registered in the US as a nonprofit organisation.
