SARGODHA: Police claimed to have arrested 21 suspected criminals involved in gambling and drug pushing on Tuesday. Police rounded up 13 gamblers and confiscated bet money amounting to Rs22,000 and three mobile phones from their possession.
A spokesman of police informed that the action was taken out in their ongoing crackdown against anti-social elements. He said Factory Area police while acting on a tip off conducted raids in various areas and arrested said gamblers.
The accused were identified as Muhammad Usman, Muhammad Mehran, Kashif Ali, Nasir Khan, Asif Iqbal, Saad, Waqas, Nasar Hayyat, Ghulam Hussain, Zeeshan Mehmood, Jhanghir, Jabran Ashiq and Faisel. Police registered separate cases against them under the gambling act.
Meanwhile, police arrested nine accused and seized 1.86 kilogrammes of hashish, 28 litres of liquor, a Kalashnikov and three 30-bore pistols from their possession. Police officials said that during a continued drive against drug pushers and criminals, teams of different police stations conducted raids in various areas and arrested said accused.
