Woman’s body found in water tank
Husband suspects his son strangled her to death
KARACHI:
The body of a woman was found in the underground water tank of a house in Gabol Goth, Gulistan-e-Johar, late on Friday night.
According to the victim's husband, Haji Sahib, he was unable to find 26-year-old Fauzia anywhere in the house when he returned home after Taraweeh prayers on Friday evening, while all the doors of the house were unlocked. He then went to his sister's house to look for Fauzia.
"She was not at my sister's house either," he told The Express Tribune, adding he and his sister went searching for her back to his house, where he noticed that the lid of the underground water tank was slightly ajar. Upon checking, they found Fauzia's body inside, with her hands tied together.
"It appeared she was strangled to death," said Sahib.
He revealed that Fauzia was his third wife, who he had married in court a month ago. According to Sahib, his first wife lives in Multan, while his second wife resides in the upper storey of the same house where he lived with Fauzia.
Claiming that his second wife was not happy about him marrying a third time, he added that his son from his second marriage was not on talking terms with Fauzia. Sahib stated that he suspected his son had committed the murder, adding that legal action should be taken against him.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. The police have collected evidence from the crime scene and launched an investigation into the matter.
