Balochistan's civil hospital faces PPE shortage

Balochistan’s second largest government hospital faces shortage of protective equipment, as MS Civil Hospital requests health secretary Balochistan to provide necessary protective equipment at an emergency basis.

Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Quetta has written a letter to the provincial health secretary, saying that hospitals face acute shortage of protective equipment for doctors and healthcare staff.

According to the letter, MS requested the secretary to provide, 15,000 pairs of gloves, 15,000 face masks, 1000 liters of sanitizers and 2,000 disposable gowns.


“The requested equipment is for the 15 days demand,” the letter read.

Young Doctors have been protesting against the lack of protective equipment in the Civil Hospital and other government hospitals. A number of doctors and paramedic staff have also been infected with the coronavirus up till now.
