Committee for effluent treatment

KARACHI: Following the order of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) constituted a joint committee of SITE Ltd and Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) to visit industrial points for the inspection of proper discharge of industrial solid waste and poisonous chemicals.

The joint committee will collect the samples and send them to SEPA to conduct required tests and judge whether the effluent is dangerous. A report will also be submitted within 15 days along with the list of defaulting industrial units.

Moreover, 20 garbage dumping points have been identified which are being constructed and would be completed within seven days from where the solid waste will be lifted and disposed of onto the landfill site.
