PPP MPA in Thar contracts coronavirus

Four more in other districts test positive

HYDERABAD: A Tharparkar-based MPA of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Rana Hameer Singh, has contracted the coronavirus, according to a report issued by the diagnostic and research lab of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.

The MPA reportedly met and spent time with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) MPA Abdul Rasheed, who has also been tested positive, during the latter's visit to inaugurate an intensive care unit at an Al-Khidmat Foundation health facility in Tharparkar over a week ago.

Separately, a woman beneficiary of the Ehsaas Programme, hailing from a village in Dahili taluka of Tharparkar has also tested positive for the coronavirus.

In Shikarpur, where five doctors and two local government representatives have already tested positive, a policeman and a brother of the district municipal chairperson have contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, a doctor at taluka hospital, Ratodero, has also tested positive, after which local authorities have prepared list of 61 persons including his family members, who will be tested.

A friend of PPP leader Khursheed Shah, whose servant was found infected earlier, has also tested positive.
