LAHORE:
The military on Tuesday announced its support for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operation to bring back the Pakistanis stranded abroad during the coronavirus pandemic.

Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa announced the treatment facility at the combined military hospitals (CMHs) across the country if any PIA personnel fell victim to coronavirus during these flights, while Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan announced that C-130 planes would transport crews stranded in various cities due to lack of domestic flights.

Air Marshal Arshad Malik, the chief executive officer of the PIA, said that in this difficult time, the co-operation of all the institutions of country was a source of national strength. Malik said that PIA was operating flights to bring back the Pakistanis stranded abroad despite the dangers.

“We have received requests from thousands of people, who are still waiting for PIA. PIA will continue operation with the government’s permission till the last Pakistani returns home, and those who taken their last breaths abroad,” he added.

He also praised Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan for his special efforts and leadership skills in this national service. “We have the full support of all government circles and national institutions in this mission for which we sincerely grateful for all.”
