Bridge team to undergo foreign coaching
PBF prepares for this year’s Bermuda Bowl.
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) has arranged online coaching programmes by Eric Kokish, known as the world’s best coach, for the national team in order to prepare them for this year’s Bermuda Bowl in the Netherlands.
This is the first time that the federation has hired a coach to conduct training programmes for the team and according to the PBF President Tariq Rasheed, the step was initiated by the Mind Sports Association of Pakistan (MSAP).
The six-member team that defeated India in the Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East Championship in May to qualify for Bermuda Bowl has already finished a three-day coaching session with Junaid Saeed, who was trained by Kokish in Canada.
“It’s a huge step for the team,” Rasheed told The Express Tribune. “The team just finished a course with Saeed. The programme, conducted by Kokish’s assistant, will begin after Eid.”
According to Rasheed, the MSAP is injecting $5,000 in the programme which focuses on the players’ defensive and communication methods.
