KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected on Friday the bail plea of an accused in a case pertaining to the alleged killing of a citizen by the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) police.

An ATC was hearing the case at Central Jail Karachi, during which the accused, Tariq Mehmood, sought bail on medical grounds.

The petitioner's counsel claimed that Mehmood's medical report did not mention anywhere that his life was at risk and he could not be treated at government hospital. The counsel moved the court to reject Mehmood's bail plea.

According to the police, Intezar had been shot dead by AVLC police officials on January 13, 2018. Eight AVLC officials have been arrested in the case.

Separately, an ATC ordered the investigation officer to present the case property of the Inspector Tofeeq Zahid murder case on the next hearing on May 7.

According to the police, Zahid had been shot dead by the accused in Federal B Area in 2004.

One of the prime suspects, Rehan, has been arrested while the other, Zeeshan, is on the run. The court has also declared eight other accused as absconders.
