Virus tests of all prisoners urged

Punjab Assembly speaker discusses Covid-19 issues in video link conference

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that the coronavirus tests of inmates of all jails of Punjab must be ensured and doctors and staff performing duties at all quarantine centres should be provided protective kits.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the All Parties Special Parliamentary Committee on coronavirus, held through video link on Thursday.

Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja, Finance Minister Hashem Jawan Bakhat, MPAs Nazeer Ahmad Chohan, Sajid Ahmad Khan, Hassan Murtaza, Sardar Ovais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Samiullah Khan, Khwaja Salman Rafique, Ameen Zulqarnain, Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Mohammad Muaviya, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Momin Agha, Secretary Finance Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti and DG Parliamentary Affairs Inayatullah Lak participated in the meeting.

Parliamentary committee members shared their proposals in the meeting.

During the meeting, the finance minister briefed the participants about preliminary points regarding the next financial year’s budget, whereas additional chief secretary home apprised them of the government’s measures so far about coronavirus tests of the prisoners.

Elahi said that all members of the Punjab Assembly should send their proposals which will be forwarded to the Finance Department.
