Punjab to finalise renewable energy policy soon

Tariff for 100-megawatt power projects at Layyah and Bahawalpur would soon be notified

MULTAN: Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik said the federal government would soon finalise and approve the Alternative and Renewable Energy (ARE) policy.

He expressed these views in a meeting with Federal Minister for Power Omar Ayub on Wednesday. Many important energy-related issues came under discussion between the two ministers. Dr Malik said positive headway had been made on solid waste to energy project in Lahore. He highlighted that tariff for 100-megawatt power projects at Layyah and Bahawalpur would soon be notified.

Punjab energy minister said uninterrupted power supply would be ensured during the summer season particularly in the upcoming sacred month of Ramazan. He said all the policy matters with the federal government would be resolved amicably. Energy Secretary Saqib Zafar and Punjab Power Development Board managing director were also present in the meeting.
