ISLAMABAD:
Even though the staff of the elected Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) is working with dedication, their performance can be improved if the government released the requisite funds.

This was stated by IMC Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz on Tuesday while handing out rations in union councils (UCs) 41 and 43.

Aziz reiterated that even if the IMC has millions in its accounts, it practically has no power over these funds and was completely dependent on the government for providing it money to operate. Despite these difficulties, he said that their workers were performing their duties with complete dedication. He further asserted that the corporation's performance can be enhanced if only the government allows it to use its funds.

Aziz further urged those gathered to remember the unprivileged people and take care of them in this critical time. He asserted that everyone who has sufficient resources to donate should do their part.

The mayor added that although every section of the society is suffering, people with the means should take care of the destitute around them. The official said that protecting people was their obligation, which is why the corporation’s workers are on the frontline in fighting against the global pandemic.
