Blind Accused: Report sought from police, prisons

a petition seeking quashment of a murder case against a blind man.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Friday sought a detailed report from the inspector general of Punjab police and Camp jail superintendent in a petition seeking quashment of a murder case against a blind man.

Petitioner Fouzia Akbar, mother of murder suspect Ali Shah, submitted that her son was sent to Camp Jail after he was charged with his cousin’s murder. She said she feared Islampura police could implicate his son in pending robbery and dacoity cases. She said Shah was arrested three months ago after he had returned home from a visit to Sheikhupura Road with his cousin. She said his cousin had gone missing during the visit. She said the police booked his son without recovering the body of his cousin.
