PHEC approves 60 posts for women’s college
Punjab govt releases Rs50m for purchase of equipment
RAWALPINDI:
The Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Monday announced as many as 60 positions for the teaching and non-teaching staff at the newly-established Government Post-Graduate Girls College in the Saddar area of Rawalpindi.
A summary sent by the Rawalpindi colleges director for the new posts has been approved by the PHEC.
The new seats include those for a principal, professors, non-teaching staff and basic pay scale (BPS) grade IV employees.
The appointment of the first principal for the postgraduate college would be finalised next month.
Apart from this, the Punjab government has also released a grant of Rs50 million so that the college can purchase essential equipment and furniture, including for its library, classrooms, washrooms, staff rooms, etc.
Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed is funding the purchase of equipment from the Rs150 million which are allocated to each national assembly member.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Rasheed said that admissions to educational institutions will commence with the start of the new educational year in August. In its inaugural academic year, he said that only 300 students will be enrolled in different disciplines in the college.
Meanwhile, the institution’s administration has also decided to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras around its building to ensure security.
