MUZAFFARGARH: Police booked ten people, including the bridegroom, at a wedding for violation of lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the Sanawan Town.

Police officials said a wedding procession was heading to Sultan Colony when police stopped it at a picket established in the area.

The groom, identified as Muzammil, and nine other family members were detained over violation of Section 144 amid the ongoing lockdown under which marriage ceremonies and other gatherings are banned due to the coronavirus contagion, the officials added.

An FIR under Section 188 of PPC was registered  and the groom and others were put behind bars at Sanawan police station.
