KARACHI:
The Fishermen's Cooperative Society (FCS) has asked Federal Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi to remove the restriction imposed on fishing immediately, saying thousands of fishermen had lost their only means of income.
FCS chairperson Hafiz Abdul Bar met Zaidi on Saturday, informing him that though they had helped at least 20,000 such families with the help of Pakistan Navy, those in need were far greater. "FCS does not have enough resources to help all affected fishermen," said Bar, claiming that the only solution was to lift the ban. He added that the fishermen could follow standard operating procedures to stay safe.
