Seven arrested, booked in separate operations

Police detain four bus drivers, two gutka sellers and a shopkeeper

KARACHI: Seven persons were arrested and booked for lockdown violations and other criminal activities during separate operations in Karachi late on Friday night.

Four bus drivers working for two transport companies were arrested by the Korangi Industrial Area police, and their vehicles were taken into custody. They were identified as Muhammad Wasim, Naimat Ali, Muhammad Nadeem and Anis Ahmed.

According to the police, all four of the buses were overloaded with employees of transport companies, with no safety arrangements for the prevention of Covid-19. Cases were registered against the bus drivers under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, for violating Section 144 amid the lockdown.

Meanwhile, according to the Khokhrapar police, shopkeeper Abdul Rabi was also booked for disobeying the lockdown orders.

Separately, two drug dealers, namely Danish and Muhammad Furqan, were arrested by the Shah Faisal Colony police. Fifteen kilograms of gutka and mawa were recovered from their possession. The police have registered a case against the accused.
